Hey, everybody. Welcome back to the third episode of Trivia with Jeff. I'm your host,
Jeff. We're going to play 20 questions of trivia over three rounds.
You're going to play for a $25 gift card to your favorite to rent a
restaurant. Let's hear that theme song.
Let's go. Ladies and gentlemen,
welcome back to the stage Yinza the Pittsburgh Luchador.
Lucha Lucha or Yinza.
Yinza. Do you have a preferred chant that you like? Does the. When the
crowd chants your name. I'll tell you what, when crowds chant my
name, it sometimes sounds like you suck.
And I'll be like, backstage sometimes, like, getting ready. And then I'll hear
the crowd going, yeah, yeah. And I'm like, why? Why are they
chanting for you? I'm like, oh, no. Harley Morris sucks. They don't know the real
guy. Yeah, yeah, yeah. So. Well, welcome to the show. This is
episode three. You've been crushing it. We had a first episode,
which. Okay, but you went home, you trained your practice,
and you came back swinging. Well, I'll tell you what that is, right?
It's the Pittsburgh, you know, hustle. It's the
Steel City grit. It's the. It's the
trivia. I ran out of
stuff. Yeah, that's. That was. That was, that was. That was the Pittsburgh
Plunge when you ran out of words. Right, right, right. What game is this?
This is game number three. So everybody in the audience, you have a little booklet.
Scan that game number three, get in on it, and make sure you're registered
on your phone. You'll be able to play along. And they had a. You had
a first game, you gave up 30 points. 30 balls went into the
bin. The second game we had, what, five, three and
five. Yeah. So you cut that in half. You only had 13.
So a much better score. And what we're trying to do tonight, let's take a
look at the rules
here. We're going to play 25 questions. Actually, it's 20 questions of trivia on your
phone. Your goal is to make the leaderboard as a member of the audience. So
what you want to do is outplay Yinza on the leaderboard.
And after each round, we're going to go. And whoever's beating
Yinza, they're going to get to add gold balls into the bin, gold
orbs, as some of you have already started calling them into the bin, and replace
them with the ones that are currently in there. And they're doing that to get
to the final round, because when they get to the final round, the Winner of
that game is going to take all that good, those good balls
that the audience has earned over the course of the three
games and they're going to try to pick the yellow one. If they get a
yellow one out of the bin, it's going to double their prize money. So everybody's
really playing for that final round. And let's go over
to the keeper of the balls. Paul was over there keeping
track of everything, making sure everything stays in order. Paul,
how's it going so far? Going fine over here.
You know, it's a, it's a complicated task, but I'm managing to pull it off,
I think. Has anybody tried to manipulate or bribe you
or sneak other. You know, I did get one $400
offer, but I said no, no, we' not, we're not talking until you hit five.
Paul, I was gonna say I take, take the $400.
I mean really, I mean I, I know if they pick a yellow ball, I
lose more money. But you walking out here before, that's a win. I
know my price.
Paul wants to do it, he wants to earn it, he wants to do it
the right way. He wants to get the points and he wants to take care
of business. Yeah. Paul, tell us a little bit about Steel City Trivia. We
just learned about that last week when you were here. You're back again this week
taking care, holding things down in the VIP section. What's going on with Steel
City Trivia? Yeah, we're out there hustling, getting venues.
So you know, by the time this comes out, you should absolutely be
seeing, seeing us out there hosting at some of your local bars.
So check us out. Steel CityTrivia.com, facebook, Instagram,
all the socials. Sounds good. We'll put the link in the show notes. I think
we're ready to play some trivia.
Are you ready to steal
the orbs from the bin? I think that's what we're the
loose. Okay, good. We're good. We're gonna start with a warm up round.
Round one, we always take it easy. Five questions to get things started. Warm
up those thumbs you come in week after week, you're cold, you're not
warmed up yet. So it's a new week, it's a new game. And let's see
how you do with our 5050 questions. And all we want to
know on this one is do these countries share a border?
How hard could that be? I'll give you the names of two countries. All
you have to do is tell me if they share A border or don't
share a border? I'm scanning the room. I'm trying to see who here
likes to look at atlases and globes. How many
audible sighs did you hear? That's the one. I heard one. I heard one.
Well, here we go. Let's go to that first question. Make sure
everybody's signed in here. We got some players up on the board.
Answer quickly to get more points. Brazil and
Argentina, do
they share a border or they do not share? All right, so
it's a 50. 50. Okay. Yeah.
They either do or they don't. Nine of you know that Argentina and
Brazil do share a border.
Let's see that leaderboard. Derek Shammy, single T,
Thinky. Johnny Yinza hanging in there in sixth place.
But Boaty McBoatface. I like that name. That's a new name. I haven't seen.
I haven't seen Boaty McBoatface on the leaderboard
yet. So, new player of this week, Boaty McBoatface. Boaty
McBoatface. Any relation to Steely McBeam?
Cousins, I believe. Cousins, yeah. Here we go. Question. He lives down by
the docks with
Donzies. China and Pakistan.
Do China and Pakistan share a border or
do not share a border? If you
picture a globe, sometimes that helps you.
Eleven of you said do not share a border when
in fact they do share a border. This is really
going to shake up the leaderboard early on. And
Thinky and Heartstorm are taking over
first and second place. Thinky the fastest.
All these new people or new names are throwing me.
The show must be growing. This is. The new people are showing up already. It's
pretty impressive.
Question number three. Do these countries share a
border? Turkey and Saudi Arabia,
do they share a border or they do not share a border?
Answers are in. Five of you got it right. They do not
share a board. This question. This round isn't as fun as we're separating
the wheat from the shaft right here. Here we go. Chaff
chat. Yeah.
Iran and India. Do Iran and India share
a border? Do they share a border
or not share a border? Sometimes they switch. Is is one
on top of the other. Is it sometimes. Do not share or share. I think
I kept it pretty consistent through this game. Okay. I'm just trying to.
But two times it might be shared. Trying to introduce. I'm trying to introduce some
doubt to save face, you know, or
save Mask, I guess, if you will. Yeah. But sometimes the answer is share a
border, and sometimes the answer is does not share a border. So it could be
different. There.
They do not share a border.
Paul knew that. Magic Mike. You know who didn't know it? Boaty
McBoatface. Oh, Boaty. And maybe Yinza,
too. I didn't know it either. Yinza's off the leaderboard. This isn't good for my
money. Let's go over. Oh, that was the end of round. That was the end
of round one. Oh, that's 10 balls. Yinza dropped off
the leaderboard. We go to camera two and. And what's. What's going
to be nuts. Go ahead. Okay, you're good. I need a. I need
a plug. That's the problem. That could be a problem soon. Yeah,
that's. I mean, that's a. By automatically, you forfeit all my money. So
Paul's out there. We're switching out 10. Apple.
Apple. IPhone.
No, it's.
How bad is it? How bad is your phone? The. All right, we'll keep the.
Keep the show going. Paul was over there in control. We'll go back to the
main stage. He's doing the honest 10 ball switch, they call it.
Well, there's another box down there. Don't worry about it. I budgeted for
Yinza. Hey, I'm doing what I can for you
guys. If we go back to camera one, round two,
general knowledge questions. You're going to answer fast to get more
points. This is where it gets heated.
Heated rivalry.
One laugh from the producer on that joke. On which
field do the Chicago Cubs play? Do they
play at right field? Left field. Wrigley Field.
Fenway Park. And I did give full disclaimers. I will try to trick you if
you're trying to answer too fast. If you. Some of you out in right
field. Wrigley Field is correct.
Ten of you got it right. I fold. Three. That makes me happy.
That wr. That was. You like that guy? Devious. That was
devious. Lindsay. The
fastest on that one. Paul. Magic Mike. Lindsay. First, second, and third. Question
number seven.
Which swimming stroke made its summer olympic debut in
1956? The butterfly, the breaststroke,
the freestyle, or the front crawl.
It's a very popular stroke, but it
was the butterfly in 1956
that captured America's hearts. I saw a movie about
that. That kid from that 70s show was in it. It was really good. He
did the butterfly. Butterfly effect. Yeah.
Thank you, Paul. Oh, Paul still holds
the lead. Lindsay knocking on the door about 60
points behind.
Question number eight.
What name is given to a cow that has not yet had a
calf? Is that an Elsie, a laughing
cow, a Betsy, or a heifer?
I might have stumped the ends on this one or is
he just letting you think that he's stumped and he's already
put in his answer? I have
no idea anything about cows. Is the problem a
laughing cow? Laughing cow? I thought that was an ice
cream brand. A heifer is
correct. Eight of you knew the answer.
Let's see if it shakes up the leaderboard at all.
A little bit of change, Paul. Holding on.
Lindsay, Derek, Any droid? Magic
Mike. We'll go to the
Next1. Question 9
of 20. What is the name given to
the hot liquid rock that forms inside an
active volcano? Is that obsidian?
Basalt, lava, sandstone.
Obsidian. Is it. Is that.
Oh, wait, I'm not allowed to talk about the answers.
It is basalt.
Yeah,
I pulled out a European science book for that one. But nothing's going to change
on the leaderboard. Nobody got it right. I get all the points for that
one. Question number 10.
What were the names of the two regular hecklers on the
the Muppet Show? Was it Benson and Hedges?
George and Steve? Stadler and Waldorf?
Wilbur and Orville? Great little fun
fact. Once this place becomes profitable above my head,
I'm going to put in these two characters so that they can
heckle me and the audience. Oh, that would be amazing.
Maybe I could get an animatronic Yinza. Oh, and I
could sit there and play with the controls. Yeah, while you're here, you could have,
like, little baby Ginza. I could barely do one thing.
Statler and Waldorf are correct.
Let's see what happens. Yinza has made the leaderboard up in 10th
place. Hey, hey, give me Muppet questions all day. I'll take the Muppets.
Yinza holding the 10th, but that's okay. You not. You took
one back. I like it. From the audience. The audience has still got nine on
you. Give me the orbs. Here come the orbs. Question number
11. Which woman was
not named in Mambo number 5 by Lou Vega?
Monica, Rita, Jessica,
Samantha.
That's my Lou Vega impression. It was perfect. I thought he was here for a
second. Samantha was left out.
Any Samantha's in the audience. Exactly.
Exactly. That proves Lou Vegas point.
Let's see the leaderboard. What do we have? Tenant got correct on that one?
Everybody but Bodie McBoat face
Yinza moving up. Taking two back from the audience already.
Audience got eight. Yinza has two orbs that he's
defending. Defending the orbs.
Which TV chef made her own brand of dog food called
Nutrish? Was it Rachel Ray, Giada De
Laurentiis, Paula Dean or Julia Child.
Wow. Rachel Ray. Everybody knew it was Rachel Ray. Everybody but two
people. Oh, my goodness.
I know which two makes sense.
Let's see. The ends are going to hold out. He ends up holding on to
one. One orb thought it was Paula Deen. She had all that butter. She loved
the butter that wasn't nutritious. That makes sense
now. Butter isn't that nutritious. Can we. Can we redo this? Yeah, I can go
back. What is the longest river in
North America? This is a tricky one. Is it
Mississippi, Missouri, Colorado,
Colorado. I was saying Columbia river or the Allegheny.
The mighty Allegheny. Put that one in for Yinza.
But is it the longest river? Do you know how to spell Monongahela?
Mongo. Exactly. Yeah. You nailed it.
Everyone has voted. The Missouri
river is the long, and it's not by much. I'm pretty sure it's pretty
close. In the total distance.
Let's see who got it right. Paul, Derek, Sass.
Single T. Single T. Gotta watch out
for single T. He's. This is. This is when he makes his move. He's.
Yeah, he's starting to creep up. Nobody's paying attention. Paul gets
a little comfortable. Well, Yinza, after that round,
Geez, was still in 10th place. So you're holding down one of the
orbs, but the audience has taken nine more back.
Let's go over to Paul, the keeper of the
orbs. We're going to switch out 9. A nice
move by the audience. They're coming back. They're doing all right.
Well, see, something that is going to benefit me coming up here
is when we open up to the group chat,
we open it up to the group mind. We open up to see. Learn a
little bit more about the audience and see what's going on. Right. Yeah. Let's go
back to camera one because we're
gonna see how this audience thinks. We like to play. Take a little break.
The guy gets heated. Or people are battling back and forth. The
leaderboard is bouncing up and down. But we want to
give Yinza a little bit of a leg up on you by. Let's figure
out who this audience is. Yeah. And we're gonna do that by letting them
tell us. Especially since we have so many new players this week.
Boaty McBoat. Boaty McBoatface. I have no idea. First time ever. Poppy. Love
sailing. Yeah. Well, we're gonna. This isn't for any points. This
is just for fun. We're gonna open up the texting and you're
gonna type in your answers to this question.
Name five Toppings. You would never eat
on a pizza. What would you never eat
on a pizza? Crab legs. Crab legs. Look, I don't know. Could you
have a crab leg pizza with like a. Like a garlic sauce?
I mean, probably in Maryland or something like that. Up here in Pittsburgh,
we got to put french fries on a pizza or something. Pierogies.
Of course I would eat that. Oh, this is. Never eat. Yeah, no, I'm never
gonna eat crab legs. Especially like, you. You know, you have to
shell those, right? You have to, like, take. Take the meat out of that. You
put a crab leg on top of a pizza, you're gonna just cut up your
mouth. Well, crab. A lot of people said they would never eat crab
legs as well. Pineapple. That's going to start. A
pineapple is good. We got frog legs,
chicken feet. Mix it in lettuce, ham, more crab
fish, Sar. Raisins. Raisins are disgusting.
Pop tarts. I don't know. I'm sure there's a stoner pizza with some pop Tarts
on it. You got slugs
about worms. Green pepper. I'm a big fan of green pepper. Yeah, green
pepper. You could do like a little. A little
pepperoni, green pepper, onion, maybe a little get
crazy. How about toothpaste? That's a good one.
I don't know. Yenza, what do you think? There's maraschino cherries.
One of the audience members. This is going to betray my heritage, but I'm
going to say sauerkraut. Sauerkraut on a pizza does
not sound appetizing at all. Oh.
Oh, that is true, though. But still, I picked sauerkraut. Yeah. And
one of the. The audience member that picked sauerkraut is going to win a T
shirt. We got it down in front. Said sauerkraut. Yinza has chosen,
and now he knows more about you. You've given up a lot of information
into this final round where we have
seven questions remaining. Will you
come up on top of of Yinza on the leaderboard?
Who is going to best Yinza?
Here we go. Question number one in the
final round, who was Barack Obama's first
vice president during his first term? Was
it Kamala Harris, Joe Biden, Mike Pence,
Al Gore? Everyone has voted.
Twelve of you said Joe Biden. Two of
you said Mike Pence. I think
I saw a hanging chad. Can we get a recount? Can we get a rig
count?
We don't judge, but Derek was the fastest on that one.
Paul moving down the second. Lindsay, Annie, Droid, sass and single
T. Question 15 of 20, our
second one. In the final round,
the word yo yo originated in the Philippines and means
come back bouncy on a string or weapon.
Ooh.
Everyone has voted. Nine of you said come back. Nine of
you are correct. Let's see how that scoreboard.
Oh, Derek and Paul, our first and second place,
missed it. Will this change anything?
But Bodie McBoat face is moving on up.
But we. If the audience has noticed, Ginza is not on the
leaderboard anymore. Correct.
That's right. You're welcome. Thank you. You do it
for the fans. That's right. That's right. Question number 16
of 20. Let's see how we how this shakes out. McDonald's
release I'm loving it campaign. In what year
was it?
1991-1997-2003-2009.
What year was. I don't know.
Did the song come out with them at the same time? No, that
was. I'm pretty sure that was Gershwin. And. And they
just changed it to fit McDonald's Frank Lloyd Webber.
Let's see. 1991, 97,
2003, or 2009. I spread it
out because we've heard this for a while.
2003. Six of you are McDonald's.
Loving it.
Copyright. It's a. Here we go. Paul, Linda,
Lindsay, Lindsey. How many times have I said Linda? Paul,
back in the first place. Lindsay, Derek, Antidroid, Sass
rounding out the top five. Leapfrogging, everybody. This is so
neck. Four questions remaining in this game.
What is the largest of the U.S. virgin
Islands? Is it St. Croix, St.
Thomas, St. John, or St. Lucia?
Or Lucia, if you're Italian.
That was my Italian impression. The only island I've ever been
on is the one off of Route
28, Washington's Landing. Washington, Atlanta.
Yeah. Three miles. Another great one. That's. That's the. That's the only island I've ever
been on that. Was it named after a saint? Three Mile Island. Yeah.
Three Mile. Yeah, he's from Detroit. St. Croix
was correct. Five of you got it right.
Ten of you didn't. Hey, Paul, get ten balls ready?
Did sneak back up.
Let's see what happens. Lindsey, Derek, leapfrog
Paul for first place. Derek was the fastest on that
1. Question 18. Three questions remaining in
this game before we get to our final round. For
hundreds of dollars. Here we go. Question
18. Three questions remaining. Which one of these
animals is not exclusively found in
Africa? Is it the gorilla, the lion, the
gazelle, or the rhinoceros? I've seen every single one of
those at The Pittsburgh Zoo. They do exist. There's. I know for
a fact one of them was also an Ace Ventura. Pet Detective,
I think was birthed eighth. Ace Ventura.
Was that a rhino or a hippo? It was a rhino.
Yeah. Nice. So where was he in that movie? So you think you put two
and two together? I don't know. I
forget. I don't even know what the answer is. Rhino was correct.
Rhinoceros. All right. Six of you got it right. Six of you know you can
find rhinoceros anywhere else but Africa. Or not
exclusively on Africa. I don't know. Sure. Let's see what
happens here. Lindsay, Paul, Annie.
Got it correct. And Bodie McBoatface.
We still have Lindsey in the lead. Paul, Annie, droid,
Lindsay with 13,500. Paul with
12,600. 900 points. Two questions
remaining. How will it shake out? There's 2,000
points remaining.
Add these two things together, you're gonna love this question. The number
of Great lakes shared by U.S. and Canada.
And the number of wheels on a tricycle.
Who loves math? I should have. I should have taken the time to think about
it. Well, we needed a little separator question. How
many Great Lakes share a border with the US and how many
wheels are on a tricycle? Add those together.
Home. Home. Huron,
Ontario. Everyone has voted.
Seven is the correct. Only four lakes share a
border and only three wheels are on every
tricycle. It was four plus three. It was
seven. Four of you got it right. This is a shake up question.
And look who's shaking it up. Yinza's protecting my money and
jumping up into ninth place. That Magic Mike.
Here we go, our last question.
It all comes down to this. Who is going to win a
$25 gift card to their favorite to rent them business?
What is the largest of New York's five boroughs? Is it
Manhattan, Queens, Brooklyn or the
Bronx?
You don't know. You're gonna lose your New York card. If you would have told
us, we wouldn't have to take it away.
Somebody's still thinking. We've got 7, 6, 5,
4. We're gonna go all the way to the buzzer for the last question
of the game. The answer is.
Queens is the biggest burrow of the five
burrows. That's the one Spider man
works in, right? Anidroid. Magic
Mike. Will it change our
leaders? No. Lindsey. Where's Lindsey?
Lindsey is our winner of a $25 gift card to their favorite
to rent a business. What's your favorite trending business?
You're not gonna believe this. The gift card is for
Mass Earth. $25 for Mass Earth. Oh, my goodness.
Well, thank you, everybody for another episode of trivia with Jeff. We've got
nine balls going into the bin. We got Yinza joining
us for week three of trivia with Jeff. Yinza, great battle again
tonight. The fans are loving you. Do you love having Yinza here?
We're gonna take a break and come back next week with our final
episode where first place is playing for
$100 and they can double it to 200.
Let's see what happens next week on the final edition
of trivia with Jeff. The first
shows that we did.
Let's go.
