Yinza vs Audience Live Trivia Night at Poduty Theater Pittsburgh Prizes, Balls, and Big Laughs

Welcome back to another episode of Trivia with Jeff. I'm your host, Jeff. We've got

a great episode. 20 questions coming your way. We've got

three rounds of trivia. The audience is already beating up Yinza.

Let's see. Or let's hear that theme song.

Let's go. Ladies and

gentlemen, welcome back to the stage. Here we go, Pittsburgh.

Lucha.

Yinza. Yinza. That was a great first game, you know.

How have you been? It's been a week. It's been a week. A whole week

has passed already. Why didn't anybody else change their clothes?

I only ever wear this on stage. Oh, it's.

It's been a week, right? Yeah. I've showered seven times and.

Excellent, excellent. I have eaten meals

21 times. Yeah, yeah. Any pierogies?

Oh, absolutely. What does your diet mainly consist of?

You know, protein powder, shakes,

Kabasa, Kabasi,

Kabaso, cavase. Yeah,

all the above, man. Well, we had. How about. How about

you? Me? I mostly eat fats and carbs. Nice. Yeah,

yeah, nice. Let's hear

for fats and carbs. Hey,

guys, you're really good at trivia. That's good.

And that's. Let's go over to. We have Paul here today. Paul was

our, like, security of the prize money. The prize

over on camera number two over there. We can go to.

Go take a look at Paul. He's the keeper of the ball. Hey. All right,

Paul, game number two. I thought you just picked him because his name

sounded closest to ball. Yeah,

that's how we play trivia around here. Just like, get close enough and we'll take

it. All right, awesome. Cool. So we have. If I could get the

producer to run a microphone out the. Paul real quick. What I want to

do is just real quick, thank Paul because this is a job that you didn't

sign up for when he on his way in. But Paul also has a nice

little side business that he does. Paul, tell us a little bit about who you

are and what you do if we go Back to camera two.

Yeah. Paul McLaughlin living here in Pittsburgh. I run

Steel City Trivia, a trivia company for all

your trivia gaming needs. If you ever. You can look us up

online, all the socials, if you ever want to come out to a game. Love

to see you there. Awesome. Where do you host that? Where. Where can we find

you at? At the moment, nowhere. So

a little hiatus, but within another week or two, we should

be. Should be signing up some. Some new bars. So

you'll. You'll be Seeing us out there again soon and a lot of trivia fans

in the room. And you told me something that you hosted a couple weeks ago.

Can we talk about that as well? Because that's a big deal in the trivia

podcast world. Sure. If you ever listen to

the Trivial Warfare podcast, one of my absolute favorite

podcasts, once a year, they do the Trivial Warfare takeover

in a different city throughout the country. And this year's event

was held here in Pittsburgh. We had about 50 of the trivial warheads

come into town from all over, and we spent four days

just ripping it up and having an absolute blast here in the city. It was

a great time. Yeah. That's awesome. Quite an honor to bring it to Pittsburgh and

host it. And just so I was so excited when you told me that earlier

today. So congratulations on that Steel City Trivia. Check it out.

Is there a website? Yeah, Steel City trivia dot com. Facebook,

Instagram, All. All the usuals. Awesome. Awesome. Thank you for

joining us. Thank you for keeping track of everything tonight. And you get the VIP

section, you get roped off, and, you know, we'll keep. We'll keep checking

in on you throughout the course of the night. Vip, Very important,

Paul. The most important

ball. And I do want to point out that I

have never been part of a trivia

group that travels the world and is really

smart about trivia. Yeah. But I think

the. The. The audience. Yeah, they're like, we could

tell the audience really appreciates your level of trivia.

Well, see, that's what it is, is because you're. I'm doing it for the people.

You're doing it for the people. I'm doing it for the people.

All right. Yeah, there we go. Well, we love the people, and the people love

playing trivia. And the way we're going to do this, we have 25 questions coming

your way. And your goal was to make the leaderboard ahead of my

guest tonight, ahead of Yinza, the Pittsburgh Luchador. Can you beat him

on the leaderboard? Whoever finishes this game in first place is going to win

a $25 gift card to their favorite to random business.

And when you do beat Yinza on the leaderboard, if Yinza's in sixth

place and there's five of you above him, we're going to go over to Paul.

Paul, the keeper of the balls, and we're going to switch out as many

that are beating in. So, Paul, mix those balls

up. I want to see a little bit more black and yellow. Black and yellow

mixing up. We have some nice ones. Over there. Is that 30? Is that what

we did? 30 already? Yeah. 30 already out of

100? Yes. Jeez. All right, the

house is losing tonight, Jeff, so, yeah, yeah,

I'll be walking home barefoot. So everybody who beats

Yinza in the leaderboard will get a replace a ball into the bin. And at

the end of the fourth game tonight, there's going to be real cash money for

prizes, and the winner's going to go to the bin and then they're going to

get the chance to pick out a ball. If they pick a yellow ball, that

doubles the first, second, and third place prize money. So

you're playing for the winner of the final game tonight, and that winner could be

you.

So are you ready to start our warm up

round? We're going to do some 50, 50 questions. Five questions to keep it

easy, warm up, and to get things going. And by warm up, you mean

like, legit? This is part of it. Legit. This is part of it. These

are for points and these are movies. So any movie buffs in? Here we go.

I'm going to give you a which movie tagline is this? I'll read you a

movie tagline. You have to tell me which movie it belongs to.

Titanic. There's only two choices. That could be clueless

as well. If you're going off. Oh, that dog's not from Titanic.

All right, question number one. We got 14, 15. We should have

two more players. I'll give it one second. Everybody's here.

Everybody in? I'm getting a yes. All right, we're moving

forward. Question number one tonight, one of my

favorites. In space, no one can hear you scream.

Is that alien or aliens?

Jason X. I thought that was Jason X.

Remember when he went to the space. Yeah, it was like silver

scary. Jason, some of you, someone's still thinking on this one. Is

it? Or aliens? Which one had the tagline

in space, no one can hear ice cream? Is it

ice cream? I miss when they used to creatively name

sequels. That's pretty good. That's how you knew it was the second

one. Yeah, exactly. Godfathers,

13 of you got Alien.

Alien. All right, where we at? Where we at?

I do see Yinza on the leaderboard for the first time ever. Hey,

there's my name. Fourth place. So right, there we go,

Yenza. Right now, three of you are beating Inza. So if this

round were to end right now, only three balls would

be replaced from black and yellow. Black and yellow. Yeah.

All right, so let's see if Yinza can keep the streak going. 19 more

questions. I've seen a lot of movies. Let's see

Yinza, the movie above.

The bride gets the thrills, the father

gets the bills. Is that Runaway Bride or

Father of the Bride? I happen to know for a fact that one of

my good friends was in Father the Bride

in high school. What do you mean incorrect?

Did you pick Father of the Bride? We'll find out. The

leaderboard reveals all. You did get it correct.

Any changes here? Each question's worth 1,000 points,

20,000 points total. Yinza, second

place. Right now, only Paul is beating. Paul, keeper of the

balls is beating. So for. For the past week, I've been

drinking Ginka biloba. Oh, yeah, it's

doing really well. It's made a big difference.

Question number three. Which movie tagline does this

belong to? If you only see

one movie this year, you need to get out more often.

Is that Coming to America or Naked Gun

or is it the Naked. I think there's a the in front of it. Is

it the Naked Gun? Just Naked Gun. All right. And

talking about movie sequels. Two, two and a half.

33 and a third. The Leslie Nielsen one.

Yes. Airplane or not cool, but still great. Anybody

watch the new one? Liam, what do you think of the new one? Yeah, it

wasn't as great, but it was all right. Two seconds. One second. Somebody didn't vote.

Let's see, we got 11 for naked gun. Five said coming

to America. There's some differentiation going on early on

here. Yinza creeping up there.

No, don't say that. That's now out there in the audio world.

Yenza creeping up there. Coming from the alleyway.

It was a cold and stormy night. Here we go. Question number

four. Two questions end round one.

If at first you don't succeed, lower your

standards. Is that Tommy Boy or Billy

Madison? My first instinct was

meatballs, Meatballs

and Tommy Boy. Six of you got it right.

Mostly the six people with the arms in the air, in the audience.

Let's see. This could shake up the leaderboard a little bit. Oh,

yeah, we got. Paul likes to see that. Paul went first place. There's some money

there. There's a gap between. We got Paul and Sass coming up.

Sass the fastest. Yinza still holding nice and third.

Hey, that's a good. You're in a good place. Pump me up a little bit,

Jeff. Pump me up a little bit. You're doing great. All right. Thank you. Thank

you. Here

we go. The feeling this crowd's gonna turn on the end of the night. One

man struggle to Take it easy. Is this

the Big Lebowski or Ferris Bueller's Day Off?

This is a good one. I think this round was a little tougher than the.

The last one. I don't know. This isn't. It is

Ferris Bueller's Day. The. The trick was the man's there.

I was a little worried because one man, Ferris Bueller, I mean, he's a high

school kid. Not call him a man running around Chicago like

a man. Let's see. Paul Sass. Yinza.

Correct. And Tim jumps up into fourth place

with single T. And Monty. Let's see. We're

going to our second round, which meant. Oh, I missed. Yinza was

in, what, third place. We're going to replace two of the

balls. This is your best round yet, right? All right. You're coming out swinging.

Whatever you did in the off week, you're crushing it. Good,

good. Thanks. Hey, I'm feeling good, feel good. Stretching, did a little bit of yoga,

you know, remember, there's still 15,000 more points.

Yinza does have 3,900 points, but Paul has

4,890. He's only missed 20 points out of the

first 5,000 or 120 points. Not too shabby. You got

a real competitor ahead of you. I'm

just baffled by the fact that we have him in charge of the

balls right now, which is great because we love you. They call him

Honest Paul. Yeah. And he does his own trivia. So,

like, that's like a magician revealing secrets. Yeah, they don't do that. Trivia guy

can't come to a trivia show. And. And, you know, the last thing you want

to do is be the trivia guy. That's known as the cheater.

Trust me, if I have one selection wrong tonight, people are going to flip a

chair. I. I proofread these a lot. Here we go.

We're going into round two. Get ready to answer. Hands on the buzzer.

What is the largest gland in the human body?

Is it the esophagus, the liver, the kidneys, or

the big toe gland? Big toe gland.

Oh, that's tough. That's toe.

Let's see. Is it the liver? It is.11

of, you know, your glands. Let's see how that

shakes the leaderboard. Yinza. Still holding in there. It shook me up a little bit

because I was still in movie mind, you know, I was like, oh, is that,

you know, inner space? Which movie has the biggest

gland space?

Spaceballs. Yeah. There you go. That's the theme tonight. Here we go.

Let's Go to question number seven. Thirteen players

should have a couple more jumping in here and over in the bottom. Right. If

you get bored or so, you can always click that little, like, button. Let me

know how I'm doing. Sometimes it helps me become a better host.

Aw, guys, he's open enough. I also started

the question. Who designed the Guggenheim Museum?

Was it Wilbur Wright, Orville Wright,

Frank Lloyd Weber, or Frank

Lloyd Wright? I got some. Somebody was too fast on the third one.

Let's see. All the ones I folded.

I got five of you. You're too fast. Nine of you

got it right. Frank Lloyd Weber. No.

Yeah. I don't know what's going on. I just read these questions.

Let's see what happens here. This could be your chance. Yinza.

Sass. Paul. Paul might still hold on here. Let's find out.

Sass jumping up by 900 points. Paul

in seconds. Yinza still holding on in third. Single

T, though, right on your back. You. You got

your gift certificate already? Man, come on. Yeah, it's got.

He's giving you the eye. Look at that. I know. Here we go.

Question number eight. It's getting heated in here, right? What is the

capital of the state of Maryland? Yeah.

Bethesda, Baltimore, Annapolis, Albany.

People are getting faster. The votes are coming in fast and rapid.

Nadia said Annapolis. Six of you said Baltimore. We. You think the

Ravens would ever be even? Even if it was Baltimore, I wouldn't have picked it.

You're not allowed to pick it. Not a lot. That's gonna shake it

up. Looks like Monty's jumping up there in the sixth place.

Seventh place. Oh, man. Single T. Here we go.

Question nine. Nine of ten

here. Which country is

Red Bull headquartered in? Is Red Bull in Australia,

Austria, the United States, or Germany?

That was my German impression.

Don't do it.

Let's see. Austria. Seven of you

drink taurine on a regular.

Let's check that leaderboard. Single T. Yinza, Sass.

Oh, Paul. Let's see. This is going to be a change

here. Yinza up into second place. Protected my money.

You got to take it away from Sass. Let's see if we can get a

sweep here.

Let's see what happens. Question 10 of 20,

remember, answer faster to get more points. What is the name of

the currency of Vietnam? Uh. Oh. Is it

the krona? The Balboa? The dong?

The crone?

I didn't make the currency.

It is the dong.

So now you can say, when you're trading currency in Vietnam,

don't say it. Don't. Whatever you were going to say. Don't say that. Actually, now

that I say that out loud, let's see.

Oh, boy. Derek, Paul, Lindsey, Rob. We're going to have a big

shake. We got shakes. Oh. Sass holding tight. Derek the

fastest. Paul coming back to third. Yinza in fourth. Giving

up three so far. Question 11 of 20.

The video game Pac man has four ghosts named

Inky, Blinky, Pinky and George.

Steve, Stinky, or Clyde.

One of my favorite games as a kid was, of course, Pac

Man. Pac Man, Mario Brothers,

Donkey Kong. Did you play at a Pizza Hut on the tabletop version?

No, no, no. I was always scared of the roller thing that was there because

it was pinchy. That's why I wear these gloves now. Because of

Tabletop Pac Man. Yep. Hey, look at all that. Look at

this. Everybody on the top building. That nailed it. Paul and

Derek tied with the fastest. I don't think that shook anything. Didn't do anything.

A couple thumbs up came in, though. Everybody liked it. Nothing changed. Let's go

to question number 20. 12. 12 of 20.

What toy invented in 1943 was originally used as

a makeshift radio antenna? Was it the Slinky,

the Mr. Potato Head, Lincoln Logs, or the Barrel

of Metal Monkeys? Yeah, with

my knowledge of radio signals, yes, someone

did go with the barrel of monkeys. 14 of you got the Slinky,

right? Well, see, Sass got the Barrel of

Monkeys.

Derek the fastest. Well, the barrel monkeys

might have been involved in hell. Were they originally metal story? The tin was

metal, I think. The barrel. The barrel, yeah.

Could have made it like Princess Leia. Earmuffs out of it.

I think it's our last question this round. Which actor's real name is Thomas

Mapother iv? Tom Arnold. Tom Cruise.

Tom Hanks, or your favorite ginger ale, Tom Tucker?

You know, I met Tom Arnold once. Did you? Yeah. What do you say?

Well, he said. Oh, everyone has voted.

He said. That's what he said to you. It wasn't very coherent.

Tom Cruise. A lot of Tom Cruise fans in the house.

See how many of them are on the leaderboard. Eight of them are on the

leaderboard. All right,

let's see how many balls are going in then. Let's see. Yinza in

fourth place. We're only switching out three.

Let's go to the ball counter. Let's camera number

two. Paul. Paul, Paul, Paul,

Paul. He's taking out three, and he's putting in

three. It is officially documented and forever logged in the

historical record. Well done. Thank you. Go back

to our fun round. Oh, does anybody have a Phone

charger. Oh, dear. You didn't charge your phone. Very important.

We're gonna take a break, and what we're gonna

do before the end of the final round here, we're gonna go into a little

name five again. These are fun. This lets Yinza really get a

feel for the audience in the home stretch. You're going to see how they answer

this question. It's very good reconnaissance

for me because that's what I do. I go. And then I train and

I think. And I think, okay, I know Sass likes playing catch.

And then. And single T is going to catch the flag

and they're going to volleyball. Spike it down their throats. And look,

I'm doing better this week. You're doing. Whatever you did, you're doing great.

Let's see what our question is today. Oh,

Keep it with the theme. Name five types of

balls. Now. I'm hoping that this audience.

I hear a little Chuck.

Oh, here we go. Yeah, let's see.

They got big Harry. That's not even the. Like, Harry

Belafonte. You got bowling. We got some.

Some people take it. Taking it seriously. You got

bocce. There's a bocce place up in RDC Park. I just learned.

You got softball. We got big

blue. But

wasn't there a kid here earlier? Or was that last week?

Yeah, that was last week. And the. So as the words

get. The words get bigger the more times people have entered them.

So a lot of people have entered these for some reason.

These ball. Oh, football. I thought it was these nuts. Yeah, but no,

not. Not here. Not. Yeah, you got bb.

Little. Oh, yeah, bb. A little like the gun that shoots the little

BB balls. You got a beach balls.

Tetherball. Hey, she wins a free T shirt. T shirt for the tetherball.

Keeping it pg. We appreciate that. We don't know what your other five

answers were, but tetherball. All

right, that was a great, fun round. I think you got. You kind of understand

this audience a little bit more in their mindset, their mentality. Going into the

final round, they're still going to try to beat you. All right, I'm ready.

Here we go. Let's try to beat Yinza.

We got 13 players ready. We lost one. They're back

14. I think we had one more. Everybody logged in.

Everybody up. Up and running. There we go. Lost. They're back.

And there we go. Question number 14. We're in

the final round, round three of our second week here in the

standard American deck of cards, what are the four

suits Are they king, queen, jack, ace, parts

roses, clovers, clubs, parts diamonds, club,

spades, or circle, square, triangle, oval?

Everyone has voted for Tina. You read the whole thing.

What's funny is today I brought four suits with me.

Well, no, I mean,

I don't think anybody's believing that anymore. Yeah,

nothing really changed on the leaderboard there. We'll go to question 15.

Are you ready?

Where does the Iditarod Trail sled race

occur? Alaska, usa. Saskatoon,

Canada, Siberia, Russia, or

Whitehorse, Yukon? Is it what you

think? Is it Alaska, USA?

It is. 10 of you got it right. Is it the 10 on the

leaderboard? I did it right. Staying

in there, protecting the money. I like it,

but can he take it? I did a rod.

Oh, I get it. All right. Five questions

remaining. Here we go.

Answer fast to get more points. Also known as the

Dog Star, which is the brightest star in the Earth's

night sky. Polaris, the North Star, Sirius,

Beetlejuice. Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice. That was free right there, man.

Sorry. Wow. I just summoned the

dead. Does the same person have to say

Betelgeuse or. Anybody can say it three times.

I'm not sure. Okay, great. Sirius is correct. You

got it right. The North Star is the most stable

stars. Let's see

Derek and Paul on a comeback. Sass and Yinza.

Yinza's dropping money, but Lindsey the

fastest on that one. Here we go. Question 17 of

20.

What measures distance traveled in a car?

Is it an accelerometer, a pedometer,

an odometer, or a Bob odin

Kirkometer? Oh, Mr. Show.

Nice. You think you like Mr. Bob Odenkirchenometer? Oh,

yeah. 12 of you know an odometer when you see it.

Let's see, Derek, Paul, Derek. Fat fingered something.

I'm guessing Paul. Sass and Paul,

back up in first place. Has been battling quietly, and all of

a sudden he's back. Question

18. Three questions remaining. 3,000 points.

Let's see who's gonna walk away with a gift card

to their favorite to rename restaurant, complete the title of this Billy Ocean

1988 hit. Get out of my dreams. Break into my

house. Get me a Toblerone. Or

Toblerone. Hop into my boat or get into my car. Get

out of my house. Wait. Get out of my house. Break into my

dreams. It's no, but it's

ridiculously hard not to blurt out the answer.

Get out. Get out of my house. Remember adventures of babysitting?

That doesn't even fit. Like, rhythmically. You. Break into my

house. Get into my car. Is correct. 12 of you

breaking. No break. We do not encourage criminal trespass

on this show. There we go.

Yinza still holding in there. Two questions remaining. Paul in first place.

Two questions remaining. 2,000 points.

Is it anybody's game? This is my favorite question of the night.

How many teaspoons in a tablespoon? 2,

3, 4, or 6?

This separates the bakers from the non bakers.

And seven of you got it right. There's always a separator question.

It's one of my. I will sneak this into every game that we play for

the next. Next. When you come next month, this question will be there.

It is a good. It's a. It's the simplest separator question. I know.

Oh, Yenza.

Oh, all right. You're holding safe. Holding sixth place there.

Last question. Let's go back. I just want to see what's separating

first and second. Who's. Who's in for money right now? Well, let's see. We got

Paul. Let's see. Let's get the total here first.

Oh, wait. So it's sass and single T coming down to the last

question. Yeah, I really jumped the gun on the one and two. There's a lot

of change that happened there. Sass, single T, Derek first, second and third.

Sass was 16,400 points. Single

T, 16,143. And

Derek is still in it as well at 14 or

15, 728. It all comes down

to this. The top four are all still in it,

depending on how much you love this last question.

Let's find out. Here we go.

Which of these US national parks opened first?

Was it Yosemite,

Yellowstone, Grand Canyon, Sequoia?

Let's see. Everyone has voted which one opened first. It was

Yellowstone. The ten of you who said Yellowstone. Lots

and lots. Let's see who answered fastest

could shake it up. Uh oh. Single T.

Derek and Paul. It's up for grabs. It looks like single T.

He called his shot. He took it. Single T

shoots a shot on the last game. I have another gift card for you. What's

your favorite Corinne restaurant? Mass Earth. You're not going

to believe it. It's a $25 gift card to mass earth.

Thank you everybody for another episode of trivia with Jeff. Thank you, Yinza for

joining me. We'll be back next week with another exciting three

rounds. Put those balls in there.

Trivia with jeff. Trivia with jeff.

Let's go.
